Delete Your Account
Overview
WhatsGen is an AI conversation-practice app published by Yap Studios and available on the App Store and Google Play. This page explains how to permanently delete your WhatsGen account and the personal data associated with it.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, in two ways:
- Instantly inside the app— Settings → Account → Delete Account (see steps below).
- By email — if you have already uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, email us and we will delete your account for you. No reinstall required.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you have an active paid subscription, please read the "Cancel Your Subscription First" section below before you delete your account.
Delete Your Account in the App
This is the fastest method and removes your data immediately. The path is the same on iPhone and Android:
- 1. Open WhatsGen and sign in if prompted.
- 2. Tap the Settings tab (gear icon, bottom-right).
- 3. In the Account section, tap the red Delete Account row.
- 4. Confirm by tapping Delete Account in the alert that appears ("This will permanently delete your account and all your data. This action cannot be undone.").
Your account and data are deleted immediately and you are signed out. There is no grace period and no way to recover the account afterward.
Request Deletion by Email (No App Needed)
If you have already uninstalled WhatsGen, or you cannot open the app for any reason, you can still have your account and data deleted from a regular web browser or email client — you do not need to reinstall the app.
- 1. Email support@whatsgen.app from the email address on your WhatsGen account.
- 2. Use the subject line "Delete my account".
- 3. If you signed up with Apple or Google, tell us which one so we can locate your account.
We verify that the request comes from the account owner, permanently delete your account and all associated data within 30 days (usually much sooner), and email you a confirmation once it is done.
What Gets Deleted
When your account is deleted — whether in-app or by email request — the following data is permanently erased from our servers:
- Your account & sign-in identity— your WhatsGen account, your email, any Apple or Google sign-in link, and all active sessions.
- Your profile— display name, profile photo, preferred practice mode, target language, and onboarding settings.
- Conversations & messages— every chat thread and the full text of every message you sent and every AI reply, including conversation summaries.
- Voice messages— any voice-message audio recordings you sent, removed from our storage.
- Custom personas— any AI personas or scenarios you created, including the photos you uploaded for them and their generated personality prompts.
- Conversation reviews— any AI coaching or debrief feedback generated for your chats.
- Usage & security records— your message counts, fair-use and rate-limit counters, and device-attestation (App Attest) records.
- Reports & notification tokens— any content reports you filed and any push-notification device tokens.
- Internal cost logs— per-request AI cost-tracking entries tied to your account.
All of this data is stored with our infrastructure provider (Supabase) and is removed as part of the same deletion request — no copies are kept on our backend.
What We Keep & Data Retention
WhatsGen keeps no personal data after your account is deleted. There is no soft-delete, archive, or hidden copy. Deletion performed in-app is immediate; deletion requested by email is completed within 30 days. In both cases it is permanent and cannot be reversed.
WhatsGen does not use advertising networks or analytics SDKs, so there is no tracking profile or ad data to retain.
The one thing account deletion does not remove is your paid subscription record, because subscriptions are billed and stored by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play)— not by WhatsGen. We do not store your payment details. Deleting your WhatsGen account does not cancel or refund a subscription; you must cancel it yourself (see below). Any billing records held by Apple or Google are retained and governed by their respective policies.
Cancel Your Subscription First
Important: deleting your WhatsGen account does not cancel your subscription. If you have an active WhatsGen Pro subscription, cancel it first or you may continue to be billed by Apple or Google after your account is gone.
On iPhone or iPad
Open Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → WhatsGen → Cancel Subscription.
On Android
Open the Google Playapp → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → WhatsGen → Cancel subscription.
If you need help cancelling or have a billing question, contact us at support@whatsgen.app and we will guide you through it.
